Waterbury Neighborhood Council will present its radio program Friday from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on WATR 1320 AM and 97.7 FM.

Arthur Denze, president of the council, will host the program. Featured guests will be Norma Jones, newly elected president of Historic Overlook Community Club, and the former president, Deborah Cronin.

Looking for a fun seasonal job this year? Apply to one of the hundreds of seasonal opportunities at the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, with compensation ranging from $16.35 to $20 per hour for most positions and starting at $20 per hour for lifeguards.

Seasonal positions include outdoor recreation, scientific research, conservation, forestry and law enforcement. Seasonal staff play a critical role in stocking trout; protecting swimmers at beaches; keeping parks and boat launches open, clean and safe; and conducting wildlife research.

“If you are interested in working for a purpose, there are no better jobs than those in conservation and public service,” DEEP Commissioner Katie Dykes stated. “DEEP’s seasonal employees help to protect and preserve Connecticut’s natural resources as well as helping the public enjoy the outdoors.”

Some available seasonal job openings include working at the state parks in Kent, Macedonia, Litchfield, Thomaston and Watertown in positions such as ticket booth attendants, maintainers, crew leaders, campground office staff, park rangers and lifeguards.

The event allows for a minimum of four walkers.

America Corp Seniors-RSVP is coming to Howard Whittemore Memorial Library, 243 Church St., on March 18 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The New Opportunities Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will be recruiting senior volunteers ages 55 and up who are interested in volunteering to help children read in Naugatuck elementary schools. RSVP is a federally funded program which is part of Senior Corps under the auspices of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Active RSVP volunteers are afforded free liability insurance during their volunteer time. RSVP has more than 80 volunteers working in local schools.

The CT Spirit Investigators & Researchers will host “The Ghosts of Tuttle House Part 2,” on March 29 at 6 p.m.

Join them for a thrilling evening with professional ghost hunters. The Spirit Investigators have spent several nights since their spring Part 1 presentation, uncovering more about its resident spirits.

Discover their findings as they share videos, photos and audio recordings, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session.

Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers and are available Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, 380 Church St.

Nominate your Connecticut Public Library for the CT State Library’s 2025 Inaugural Excellence in Public Libraries Awards The nomination window for the awards opened in January and will close Feb. 28.

The Excellence in Public Libraries Awards will be announced and presented at the CT State Library in Memorial Hall in the spring.

The categories include Community Engagement, Innovative Programming, Outstanding Children’s Services and Technology Integration.

“Connecticut’s public libraries provide truly outstanding services to their communities every day. Join us as we recognize their efforts, and showcase them to a state and national audience,” said Deborah Schander, Connecticut State Librarian.
